Real SMTP handshake
We open a live connection to the receiving mail server and ask it directly whether the mailbox accepts mail. No pattern guessing, no stale databases.
Catch-all resolution
When a domain accepts everything, the handshake proves nothing. Provider-level identity checks against Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace resolve the specific mailbox — turning “risky” into deliverable or undeliverable.

What does email verification software actually check?

Every check here runs the full chain: syntax and domain validation, DNS and MX lookups, then a real SMTP handshake with the receiving mail server. How is this different from a typical email verifier?
Two ways. First, catch-all resolution: when a domain accepts every address, most tools give up and return “risky”. We run provider-level identity checks against Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace to resolve those addresses to a real answer. Second, billing: credits are pay-as-you-go with no monthly subscription, and 1 credit always equals 1 verification.
What happens to unknown results?
Unknown results are never charged on single checks, and on bulk jobs the credits are refunded automatically. You only pay for verifications that give you a usable answer.
